Small Business Grants to Keep up With

Unlike loans, grants are cash rewards that don't have to be paid back. This money can be used typically for anything you need within your business; to scale, for working capital, or to expand. And if you’re a entrepreneur, you just may qualify for some small business grants that provide capital you need.


Here are 5 to keep up with!



1. Jane Walker First Women Grant Program


This grant provides $10,000 and a year-long coaching membership through IFundWomen.


Qualifications:


  • Identifies as a woman must have at least half ownership in the company
  • The person applying must be at least 21 years


The business must: 


  • Have been in operation for at least two years and make at least $25,000 in revenue annually
  • Be willing to push boundaries and fight for diversity


Be in one of the following categories:


  • Entertainment and film
  • Hospitality
  • Journalism
  • Music
  • Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
  • Sports



2. Amber Grant for Women




This grant awards $10,000 to female entrepreneurs each month. One $25,000 winner will be selected from the monthly winners each year.


Qualifications:


  • Must have a business or business idea. The Amber grant is unique because it’s not limited to women who already have an established business. If you’re able to explain how you plan to start and grow a new business, you can apply for this grant.
  • Requires a $15 application fee


Note: The Amber Grant is provided by WomensNet, an organization dedicated to helping women entrepreneurs achieve their business goals.




3. Comcast RISE



This grant rewards businesses $10,000 to invest in its own growth and sustainability. Also includes is Media, Creative Production, Consulting and Tech Makeover.


Eligibility for this grant is focused on businesses owned by people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian American owners, among others or owned by women.


Qualifications:


  • Owner is at least 18 years of age or older, and is the primary decision maker for, and is actively engaged in the day-to-day operation of the business
  • No more than 25 full-time and part-time employees for the Tech Makeover
  • No more than 100 full-time and part-time employees for the Consultation, Media and Creative
  • For the Tech Makeover, cannot be a home-based business, a business operating at a residential address or a business that does not have a permanent, fixed location (e.g., a food truck)
  • Established business operations for at least one calendar year
  • Business is independently owned-and-operated
  • Employees and independent contractors of Comcast Corporation, and each of its respective parents, affiliates, and subsidiaries are not eligible to enter or win



4. Fearless Fund (WOC Grant)



This grant rewards $10,000- $20,000 in grants to go towards business growth. Must also participate in monthly meetings with a curated Cru of fellow grant recipients.


Qualifications:


  • Revenue generating (Minimum annual revenue of $100,000 strongly preferred)
  • Identify as a woman of color owner
  • One to five years in business preferred
  • Formed under United States law and operating in the United States
  • For profit, from any industry
